We will be meeting at 0900 at the Aloma/436 "Denny's" on Saturday June 19th. The address for Denny's for our GPS friends is: 3096 Aloma Avenue Winter Park 32792. The parking lot is huge for those that may want to trailer in for the event. There is a Chevron gas station next to Dennys, and a BP across the street.

Kick stands up by 0930 where we will be heading east on Aloma (SR426) to Palmetto/Goldenrod Road (SR551) and heading south (right turn). This is a great stretch once we pass Curry Ford. Speed limits vary in this area from 45 to 50 mph. They have completed this section of Goldenrod and it now goes thru the airport property looping down behind the Airport. When I rode this to map the route, you actually go under a tunnel where the planes cross above you taxiing to the runways. It is a beautiful ride through this area and with Narcoossee under construction, the obvious choice. Goldenrod then does a small loop on Access Road and becomes Boggy Creek Road. At the 20 mile mark there is a Circle K/Shell Station where Boggy Creek and Goldenrod meet.

We enter Osceola County and stay on Boggy Creek Road for a (5) five mile run with a speed limit of 55mph where it dead ends into the far end of Narcoossee (SR15) where we make a right heading south. Though there is construction going on here as well, it will not affect us. They are building a new road next to the old, which is still in use. We stay on Narcoossee for (7) seven miles where we intersect SR441/SR192. On the corner is a 7-11. This is a good spot for anyone coming in from the south that would like to join us.

SR441/SR192 we will make a left heading east. The 7-11 at the corner will be a ride break rest stop area to allow us to stretch and pick up others joining us. Once back on the road, we take SR441 for (1.5) one and a half miles were we will make a left on to Nova Road. There is a Shell Station on the corner.

Nova Road (SR532) is Florida at its finest. This is a (25) twenty five mile stretch that will take us thru farm lands, swamps, woods, with sightings of wildlife along the way. Nova Road will dead end into SR520.

SR520 we will make a right heading east. (3.3) miles to the Orange/Brevard County line to our final destination......the Lone Cabbage Fish Camp! Address for Lone Cabbage: 8199 State Road 520, Cocoa 32926.

There we will have some lunch and take a group Air Boat ride. Besides the traditional fare, they serve exotic meats like frog, gator, and turtle meat for those of you that always have wanted to try it. (yes gator tastes like chicken.) Of course the air boat ride, which lasts for 30 to 45 minutes, is optional for those not wanting to become gator bait. :) But if you have never experienced an air boat ride you are in for a treat. Cost of the ride is $20.00.

Here is the web site for Lone Cabbage for more information: http://www.twisterairboatrides.com/index.html

Total miles from Start to Destination: 54.9 miles

Total ride time to destination is approximately: 90 minutes

TO:
Aloma to Goldenrod
Goldenrod/Access/Boggy Creek to Narcoossee
Narcoossee to 441/192
441/192 to Nova Road
Nova Road to 520

On the way home another scenic route back to Aloma/436.

Making a left out of Lone Cabbage onto SR520, we will stay on 520 for (10) ten miles going under 528 and making a right onto Taylor Creek Road. Speeds on 520 in this area reach 65mph.

Taylor Creek is another really neat road. It reminded me of the twists and turns when we go thru Lake County. On Taylor Creek at the (2.7) mile marker there is a one lane bridge that is made of wooden slats….kinda like a covered bridge with stop signs on both sides to yield to oncoming traffic. The day I went thru here which was on a Saturday, I didn't see anyone for miles. We will stay with Taylor Creek until we hit SR50.

At SR 50 we will make a left heading west, and in (0.5) one half a mile making a right onto Fort Christmas Road. You won't miss it; there is a huge Christmas tree on the corner.

Making a right onto Fort Christmas will take us north for (10) ten miles where it dead ends into Lake Mills. Left on Lake Mills and in (1) one mile we meet up with SR419 Chuluota Road.

Right turn on SR419 taking us thru downtown Oviedo. SR419 meets up with SR426 (Aloma) and will bring us back to Aloma/436 where those wishing to partake in a little cool down, Friendly Confines Sports Bar and Grill is right next to the starting point of Denny's and will fit the bill. First couples of soda and beer pitchers are on me! As you know, with summertime weather, rain is always a chance in the afternoon. This ride will have us in by 2:30ish and hopefully in before the storms. Fingers crossed!

Total miles from Lone Cabbage to 426/436: 40.8 miles

Total ride time from Lone Cabbage to 426/436: 65 minutes

BACK:
520 to Taylor Creek Road
Taylor Creek to 50
50 to Fort Christmas
Fort Christmas to Lake Mills
Lake Mills to 419
419 to 426

So I hope you like what I have planned. This route will take us thru four counties (Orange, Osceola, Brevard and Seminole) and cover a total of 95.7 miles. The only drawback is that this will not be a 50cc friendly ride. Looking forward to riding with you on June 19th!

Start planning now for a fun filled Scooter Day!
