Saturday, July 23rd we will be riding through the back roads of Polk and Hillsborough. After lunch, we can do a little downtown shopping.

The starting point will be the Berry Town Center Publix (US 27 near US 192), 2424 Sand Mine Rd., Davenport. The 9:45 AM should give the Orlando Crew time to get to Polk.

The 1st   scheduled stop will be 11:45 AM at Hot Dog Millie’s in downtown Plant City (111 S. Collins St.) This is an ice cream/hot dog shop featuring Hershey’s Ice Cream and Vienna Beef Hot Dogs. Other nearby places include Manatee Bay Café which offers authentic Cubans and all- day breakfast, Snellgroves which offers good home cooking (menu online at http://www.snellgroves.com/) and Whistle Stop Gourmet Coffee & Eatery which offers soups and sandwiches. All are within walking distance from one another. We can mill around for lunch then window shop in a nice small downtown atmosphere. Kickstands up at 1:15 PM.

We will then take a bit more direct route on US 92 back to Haines City. Haines City has some interesting landmarks. Maryland Fried Chicken is one of the last yesteryear franchises. To survive they had to add some Asian foods to the menu. http://www.marylandfriedchickenricebowl.com/joomla/.

I will be riding a scooter that does an average of 50 MPH. For the maxi scoots that just want to meet us at certain points, the key times are 9:45 AM in Davenport, 11:45 AM in Downtown Plant City and 2:30 PM in Haines City. As a reminder scooters should be able to maintain 45 MPH for the rides. We will be traveling in a group so smaller scoots are welcome. Rain this time of year is almost a certainty so plan appropriately.
